September 23, 2026 – Rodney Patterson of St. Ansgar State Bank was recently honored by the Iowa Bankers Association for more than 50 years of service at a bank. The award was presented to Patterson during the IBA Annual Convention on Monday, Sept. 21, in Des Moines. Patterson was one of 24 individuals recognized for reaching the 50-year service milestone.
 
“Each year, it’s amazing to hear these bankers’ stories of dedication to their communities and the many relationships they formed throughout their 50-plus years of service. We’re honored to be able to celebrate Rod’s exemplary commitment and experience,” said IBA president and CEO Adam Gregg. “This event allows us the opportunity to recognize these legendary bankers among their family and friends and in an environment that highlights their accomplishments and dedication for our next generation of bankers.” Rod currently serves on the St. Ansgar State Bank Board of Directors and joins fellow director and colleague Tim Halvorson in being recognized for 50 years in banking.

In 1976, Rod Patterson returned to his hometown of St. Ansgar and began a 50-year career with St. Ansgar State Bank. His deep understanding of the agricultural economy and commitment to his customers made him a trusted partner to generations of local families. During the 1980s farm crisis, Rodney worked alongside friends and neighbors with empathy, practical problem-solving, and a steadfast belief in the resilience of the people he served.

Throughout his career, Rod has valued the relationships and trust of customers and colleagues as central to the bank’s success. His commitment to the community has extended beyond banking through involvement in youth athletics, support of the local school system, and service to his church.
